Word Clouds for Marketing and PR Use

When I was younger, I used to make word clouds all of the time. I’ve used them for school projects, for Mother’s Day gifts, and everything in between, but I’ve never used them for analytics purposes.

When I found out that word clouds could actually be helpful when it comes to analyzing popular trends and phrases, I was ecstatic. I have always felt like word clouds display information in a way that is new and exciting while also serving a purpose, and of course, what better combination could you ask for than that.

For this specific word cloud, I took the transcript from President Joe Biden’s Inauguration address and transformed it into a word cloud demonstrating all of the most popular words and phrases he used throughout his entire speech.

I thought it was interesting that the word “one” was used so often. I could see where President Biden would use the word “one” in phrases like “One country under God,” but in other instances, it is tough to imagine this being one of his most used words throughout.

Of course, I was not surprised to see words like America, American, Day, and Nation in the address. These are common words and have long been used in addresses made to the nation.

When you look deeper into the word cloud, however, it is interesting to see the words he used less frequently. Words like justice, heal, stand, unity, war, taken, and history were all very prominent words in the last few months and it was nice to see President Biden weave these words in when he could.

Unfortunately, I was unable to watch the Inauguration Address live on television when it happened, but luckily, thanks to a recording and this word cloud I was able to make, I feel confident that I understand what the address was about and the emotion that was placed behind it.
