Covering Election Day

On November 4, 2020, a historic election took place in the United States.

As a student at Auburn University, I was in Auburn on the day of the election. I had voted early in my home state of Florida and had no prior engagements on the day of the election. Instead of voting on election dat, I visited local polling places in the city, talked to volunteers, and got sentiments from voters on what they were seeing and experiencing.

When I noticed cars parked on the side of the road for as far as I could see, I knew I had arrived at the first polling location on my list. The atmosphere was quiet and hopeful all at the same time; something I had never experienced before.

I could tell that people were excited to be there, and that no matter how long the lines got, they were going to wait until they were able to cast their vote.

This was the first presidential election I was able to vote in, and for me, it was an exciting time to learn about what previous elections had been like in the past.

I have included photographs I took from that day along with a few notes I jotted down after I spoke to people.
